Douglas A. Goodman is a Partner of Equifin. Mr. Goodman has spent over 16 years in the structured finance industry in both principal investing and investment banking roles at Goldman Sachs & Co., Deutsche Bank, and The First Boston Corporation.
Prior to joining Equifin, Mr. Goodman spent the last 3 years as a Director at
Deutsche Bank in the Global Markets Division covering hedge funds and other opportunity investors transacting in structured credit products. From 1998 to 2002, he was a member of Goldman Sachs' Principal Finance Department, where he invested in de novo specialty finance companies and helped manage their development. Following the Russian/Thai debt crisis, his investment focus shifted to value oriented principal investing in credit assets in consumer and commercial finance, with an emphasis on bankruptcy and other special situations. In particular, he had a leadership role in the acquisition of Southern Pacific Funding Corporation, a sub-prime originator Goldman Sachs acquired through bankruptcy. From 1992 to 1997, he was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs' Fixed Income Division where he covered financial institutions. In this role, he originated and executed asset sales, balance sheet restructurings, and asset/liability management transactions.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Goodman was a member of First Boston's Structured Finance Department, focusing on mortgage securitization and principal investments in loan portfolios acquired through the Resolution Trust Corporation. Mr. Goodman began his career in 1986 at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he joined as a money market trader in the Fixed Income Division.
Mr. Goodman serves on the Board of Directors of Flagship Credit Corp. and Residential Credit Holdings, LLC.
Mr. Goodman earned an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree with honors from Lehigh University.
